Frequently Asked Questions
Who should enroll in mould abatement training?
Mould Abatement Level 1 and 2 training is designed for construction workers, maintenance personnel, and their supervisors who need to conduct minor Level 1 to moderate Level 2 mould removal operations. This includes property maintenance staff, restoration technicians, facility managers, and contractors who encounter mould during renovation or repair work. The course provides the detailed knowledge and hands-on skills required to safely identify, contain, and remove mould in accordance with Ontario health and safety legislation and applicable guidelines.
How long is mould abatement certification training?
ACUTE’s Mould Abatement Levels 1 & 2 course is completed in one full day (8 hours). The program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training in proper mould removal techniques. You’ll participate in preparation and operations exercises that simulate real-world scenarios, ensuring you can apply what you’ve learnt immediately in the field. The course includes detailed handouts, videos, and quizzes to reinforce your understanding of safe mould abatement procedures.
What's the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 mould removal?
Level 1 mould removal operations involve minor contamination affecting small areas (typically less than 1 square metre), where simple containment and basic protective equipment are sufficient. Level 2 operations address moderate contamination in larger areas (between 1 and 10 square metres) requiring more extensive containment procedures, enhanced personal protective equipment, and stricter decontamination protocols. This training program covers both classifications, teaching you how to assess mould situations, implement appropriate control measures, and execute safe removal procedures for each operation type.
Can mould abatement training be done at my workplace or your facility?
We offer flexible training locations to suit your needs. You can choose to have the course conducted on-site at your facility or at our training facility in Waterloo. Training at our facility provides access to our spacious classroom, state-of-the-art hands-on training space, and full break room amenities.
