Frequently Asked Questions
Who should enroll in mould hazard awareness training?
Mould Hazard Awareness Training is designed for decision-makers and professionals responsible for building safety and occupant health. This includes building owners, property managers, facility managers, management staff, executives, school principals and teachers, real estate professionals, home inspectors, architects, engineers, and supervisors. The course provides the knowledge needed to recognize mould hazards, understand health risks, work effectively with mould abatement professionals, and make informed decisions when mould issues arise in buildings under your care.
How long is mould hazard awareness training?
ACUTE’s Mould Hazard Awareness Training is a half-day program that takes 4 hours to complete. The course combines classroom instruction with experienced trainers, legislative requirement reviews, detailed handouts, videos, and quizzes. This condensed format is ideal for busy professionals who need comprehensive mould knowledge without the hands-on abatement techniques covered in longer courses. You’ll gain a thorough understanding of mould hazards, classification of removal operations, and your regulatory responsibilities in a single half-day session.
What's the difference between mould hazard awareness and mould abatement training?
Mould Hazard Awareness Training focuses on knowledge and decision-making for those who oversee buildings and manage mould issues, rather than physically performing the work. This 4-hour course teaches you to recognize mould problems, understand health effects, know regulatory requirements, classify removal operations, and work with qualified abatement professionals. In contrast, Mould Abatement training is an 8-hour hands-on program for workers who actually perform mould removal, covering detailed procedures, containment techniques, and practical skills for Levels 1 and 2 operations. Choose awareness training if you manage properties or make decisions about mould remediation, and abatement training if you’ll be conducting the removal work.
Can mould hazard awareness training be done at my workplace or your facility?
We offer flexible training locations to suit your needs. You can choose to have the half-day course conducted on-site at your facility or at our training facility in Waterloo. Training at our facility provides access to our spacious classroom and full break room amenities. Both options deliver the same comprehensive program with experienced instructors, detailed course materials, and interactive learning to ensure you understand mould hazards and your responsibilities under Ontario health and safety legislation.
