Frequently Asked Questions
Who should enroll in respirator training?
Selection, Use, and Care of Respirators Training is essential for employers, supervisors, and workers who use respiratory protective equipment in industrial and agricultural workplaces. This includes workers exposed to airborne contaminants such as dust, fumes, vapours, gases, or biological hazards who need to wear respirators as part of their job. Joint Health & Safety Committee members responsible for respiratory protection programs and health and safety professionals developing or managing respirator programs will also benefit from this training. Anyone who needs to understand proper respirator selection, maintenance, fit testing, or regulatory compliance should enroll in this program.
How long is the respirator training course?
ACUTE’s Selection, Use, and Care of Respirators Training is a half-day program that takes 4 hours to complete. The course combines classroom instruction with hands-on training in the care and use of respiratory equipment. The training includes detailed handouts, videos, and quizzes to ensure comprehensive understanding of respiratory protection requirements. Quantitative fit testing is also available on-site if requested as an additional service.
Can respirator training be customized for our specific equipment?
Yes, our Selection, Use, and Care of Respirators Training is routinely customized to cover the specific brands and types of respiratory systems used in your workplace. Whether you use half-face or full-face air purifying respirators, supplied air systems, or self-contained breathing apparatus, we tailor the training to address your equipment and operational requirements. Training can be conducted on-site at your facility or at our training centre in Waterloo. On-site training allows us to incorporate your actual respiratory equipment into hands-on exercises, ensuring your team receives practical instruction directly applicable to their daily work environment and the specific hazards they face.
