Course Details
This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to fulfill their roles required under the OHSA. This course intends to provide supervisors in construction environments with the knowledge they require to carry out their functions under the OHSA, as well as to assist in fulfilling the OHSA’s defined level of competency.
Upon completion, participants should understand:
- How to fulfill their role under the OHSA
- How to support the Internal Responsibility System in their workplace
- The responsibilities of a JHSC and safety representative under the OHSA
- The responsibilities of a supervisor under the OHSA
- How to advise on hazard recognition, assessment, control, and evaluation
- How to conduct inspections, incident investigations, and respond to work refusals
- Have adequate knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS: Under the Occupational Health & Safety Act, it states that employers are required to employ only “COMPETENT PERSONS AS SUPERVISORS”
NEW SAFETY LEGISLATION WILL INCLUDE MANDATORY TRAINING FOR SUPERVISOR AND BUSINESS OWNERS.
